The Fortin Fredrik Thordendal Signature Dual Boost — the 3.33 — is the next chapter in a collaboration between Mike Fortin and the Meshuggah guitarist that began with the original 33 pedal. Where the 33 was the "set-it-and-forget-it" gold standard, the 3.33 offers two independent channels and adds active Bass and Treble controls to each. The 3.33 is built for metal players running high-gain tube amps who want surgical control over their boosted tone without giving up the punch and clarity that made the original famous.

What Sets the 3.33 Apart in the Boost Category

Most boost pedals offer a single channel of gain and EQ. The 3.33 ships with two — a red "3" channel, a variation on another of Fredrik's favourite boost archetypes, and a green "33" channel, a beefed-up 33 with additional controls — each with its own Volume and active Bass and Treble. The integrated Zuul noise gate takes its signal from the pedal's input (Fortin's key system), so the gate is unaffected by the other controls on the pedal. Remote amp-channel switching via a quarter-inch output, combined with an assign switch and polarity switcher, lets the pedal act as the command center for a two-channel rig.

Signal Path and Switching Architecture

Signal flow and switching architecture determine how transparently a boost sits in a high-gain rig. The 3.33 uses an industry-standard DPDT relay true-bypass switch so the pedal powers up in the same state it was powered off, with no tone coloration when disengaged.
