Ibanez GRX70QA-TRB GIO — A Superstrat That Punches Above Its Class

The Ibanez GRX70QA-TRB GIO is a Transparent Red Burst superstrat electric guitar built for players who want real Ibanez DNA at an accessible price. A Poplar body topped with a Quilted Maple Art Grain (Basswood) veneer delivers the sleek double-cutaway silhouette the GIO series is known for. This model is the right choice for beginners and intermediates who need a multi-genre HSH workhorse for rock, blues, and metal. With its 648 mm scale and Infinity pickup trio, it covers a tonal range that rivals pricier instruments.

What Sets This Guitar Apart

What makes this model stand out is the rare combination of a figured top and an HSH pickup layout at this tier. The T106 tremolo bridge features six independent saddles for precise intonation adjustment. A mono-unit output jack — built as a single solid piece — eliminates the wobble and contact failure that often plague budget guitars.

Body Construction — Lightweight Poplar With a Refined-Looking Top

The Poplar body delivers balanced weight and a resonant midrange, while the figured top adds visual depth.

• Body Material: Poplar — keeps the guitar light enough for long practice sessions
• Top Material: Quilted Maple Art Grain (Basswood) — delivers the figured-wood look usually reserved for more expensive models
• Polished Transparent Red Burst finish highlights the wood grain under stage lighting

Neck & Playability — Thin Maple Profile Built for Speed

The GRX Maple neck uses a slim profile comfortable for barre chords and sweep-picking. A Jatoba fretboard with 22 medium frets gives enough range for most lead playing.

• Scale Length: 648 mm — the standard 25.5" scale that delivers tight low-end response and snap
• Nut Width: 42 mm — narrow enough for fast legato and comfortable for smaller hands
• A 305 mm fingerboard radius flattens out bends while still feeling natural for rhythm work

Electronics & Hardware — HSH Pickup Trio With T106 Tremolo

An HSH configuration pairs two Infinity R humbuckers with an Infinity RS single-coil in the middle, unlocking seven tonal combinations through the 5-way selector. The T106 tremolo handles dive-bombs and vibrato.

• Pickup Configuration: HSH — Infinity R (neck), Infinity RS (middle), Infinity R (bridge) — covers clean, crunch, and high-gain tones from a single guitar
• Bridge: T106 tremolo with 6 independent saddles — allows per-string intonation and height adjustment
• Factory string gauge of .009/.011/.016/.024/.032/.042 — a light, flexible setup that bends easily and suits the tremolo

Who Is This Guitar For?

This guitar is the right choice for beginner and intermediate players who want a single instrument covering rock, blues, pop, and metal without compromise. Players with smaller hands will appreciate the slim GRX neck profile and the 42 mm nut width, while the HSH layout gives tone-chasers enough variety across genres. Gigging musicians on a budget get a stage-ready tremolo.
