UDO Super Gemini Synthesizer White

The UDO Audio Super Gemini White is a flagship 20-voice polyphonic, bi-timbral analog-hybrid synthesizer that houses two independent synth engines on a single 61-key chassis. Built around FPGA digital oscillators feeding a true analog signal path, it offers a unique Binaural mode in which voices are twinned into stereo "super voices" for spatial, three-dimensional sound. The white-finished instrument combines a 61-note semi-weighted Fatar keybed with polyphonic aftertouch, a custom ribbon controller, dual-layer architecture, and twin 24-bit stereo effects per layer.

  • 20-voice polyphony with bi-timbral dual-layer design — two complete synths in one housing
  • Two FPGA-based digital oscillators per layer with 64 user-definable waveforms, hardsync, cross-modulation, ring modulation and a sub-oscillator
  • True Binaural analog signal path that twins voices into 10 stereo super voices for 3D spatial imaging
  • 61-key semi-weighted Fatar keyboard with velocity sensitivity and polyphonic aftertouch, plus custom ribbon controller
  • Two 24-bit stereo effects (Juno-style chorus and delay with freeze) plus 64-step sequencer and arpeggiator per layer

UDO Audio Super Gemini White — A Dual-Layer Analog-Hybrid Flagship Synthesizer

The UDO Audio Super Gemini White is a 20-voice polyphonic, bi-timbral analog-hybrid synthesizer built around an unprecedented dual-layer architecture. Each layer is a complete synthesizer in its own right, with its own oscillators, filters, envelopes, LFOs, modulation matrix, sequencer, arpeggiator and effects — so the player effectively commands two instruments from a single 61-key chassis. The white-finished flagship from the Bristol-based maker fuses FPGA digital oscillators with a true analog signal path, delivering the depth of classic polyphonic synths alongside modern flexibility.

What Makes the Super Gemini Stand Out

What separates this instrument from the field is its true Binaural analog signal path. In Binaural mode, the 20 voices are twinned into 10 stereo "super voices," with each ear receiving its own complete synth voice whose parameters can be independently controlled. The result is a sense of three-dimensional spatial positioning that ranges from subtle width to extreme movement — a feature unique to the Super series. Equally distinctive is the dual control panel layout, where every synthesis parameter is duplicated for both layers, eliminating menu-diving and keeping every knob, fader and switch within immediate reach.

Sound Engine and Oscillator Architecture

At the heart of each layer sit two FPGA-based digital oscillators offering sine, triangle, sawtooth, square and noise waveforms. The first oscillator includes a "super mode" with up to 64 user-definable waveforms, while the second provides pulse-width modulation, hardsync, ring modulation and a sine/square sub-oscillator. Cross-modulation covers FM sounds at the oscillator level, and a DDS modulator animates pitch and waveform movement. The signal then flows through an analog 24 dB low-pass filter with switchable two-stage drive, a downstream 6 dB high-pass filter, and an analog VCA.

  • Polyphony: 20 voices standard, 10 stereo super voices in Binaural mode
  • Oscillators per layer: 2 FPGA-based digital oscillators with 64 user-definable waveforms on OSC1 and PWM on OSC2
  • Filter: Analog 24 dB low-pass with drive plus 6 dB high-pass
  • VCA: Analog, modulated by envelope, LFO, velocity and aftertouch

Modulation, Sequencing and Effects Per Layer

Each layer carries two ADSR envelopes, two LFOs (LFO1 extends into the audio range and can act as a third oscillator), and an 8×8 modulation matrix with eight storable entries. A 64-step polyphonic sequencer with 16 patterns and a multi-mode arpeggiator with smart hold run independently per layer and sync to MIDI clock. Two 24-bit stereo effects — a Juno-style chorus switchable in three stages and a stereo delay with a dedicated freeze function — round out each layer's signal chain.

  • Envelopes: 2 ADSR per layer
  • LFOs: 2 per layer with extended audio-range frequency on LFO1
  • Modulation matrix: 8×8 routings per layer
  • Sequencer: 64 steps, 16 patterns per layer with MIDI sync
  • Effects: Two 24-bit stereo effects per layer — chorus and delay with freeze

Keyboard, Controllers and Connectivity

The 61-note semi-weighted Fatar keybed is velocity-sensitive and supports polyphonic aftertouch, allowing individual notes within a held chord to be modulated independently. A custom-designed ribbon controller adds gestural expression for pitch, filter or any user-assigned destination. MPE support is built in. On the rear panel, players find MIDI In/Out/Thru, USB MIDI, four 6.3 mm pedal inputs (volume, expression, sustain and delay freeze), stereo layer outputs on four 6.3 mm jacks and a stereo mix output on two 6.3 mm jacks.

  • Keyboard: 61-key semi-weighted Fatar with velocity and polyphonic aftertouch
  • Controllers: Custom ribbon controller plus assignable joystick, bender, portamento fader and octave switch
  • Memory: 256 patches, 256 performances, 64 user waveforms, 16 sequences
  • Dimensions: 1047 × 443 × 130 mm
  • Weight: 14.5 kg

Who the Super Gemini White Is For

The Super Gemini White is the right choice for professional synthesists, sound designers and serious studio players who need two independent synthesis engines in a single instrument — without sacrificing the immediacy of hands-on control. Its Binaural mode makes it especially compelling for cinematic scoring, immersive soundscapes and any production where three-dimensional stereo imaging matters. Live performers benefit from the split, dual and single keyboard modes, the per-layer arpeggiator and sequencer, and the tactile ribbon controller. Players who prefer to work by ear rather than menu-diving will appreciate the screen-free design where every function sits directly on the panel.

The UDO Audio Story

UDO Audio is a Bristol-based synthesizer maker building instruments entirely in Europe. The Super Gemini represents a quantum leap in the company's technology, building on the acclaimed sound pioneered by George Hearn with the Super 6. Adopting dual FPGAs, twin effects processors and a true-stereo Binaural signal path, Gemini carries the UDO ethos — "The Power of Play" — into a flagship instrument designed without compromise, with rugged folded aluminium and steel construction intended as an instrument for life.

Aftertouch

Aftertouch: Yes

Aftertouch technology on the keys allows musicians to add a new level of expression to their playing. When a key reaches the bottom of its stroke, the pressure exerted on the key can continue to be sensed and used to control various aspects of the sound, such as vibrato, volume, or tone modulation.

Polyphony

Polyphony: 20

The polyphony of this instrument allows up to <%=tp_value % notes to be played simultaneously, providing rich and complex musical possibilities.

LFO: 2

An LFO, or low frequency oscillator, brings electronic sound to life. It adds movement and interest to synthetic sounds and effects, playing an important role in both subtle synthesis and bold sound design. However, you won't hear the LFO itself because it acts as a modulator. This means that it does not directly affect the audio signal, but adjusts other parameters such as oscillator pitch and filter clipping.

Oscillators: 2

This dual-oscillator synthesizer offers a wide range of sonic possibilities that combine harmonic and non-harmonic tones. Users can adjust the frequency and amplitude of each oscillator separately, allowing harmonious layering of sounds, creating unison effects or captivating modulations.

Pitch Bend: Yes

The Pitch Bend allows smooth pitch changes, adding expressiveness to musical expression. Often used to create effects such as glissando or vibrato, this feature allows the player to make subtle or dramatic changes to the sound in real time. Pitch bend allows musicians to create smooth transitions between notes, increasing the dynamics and expressiveness of their performances.

Modulation: Yes

Modulation allows you to change different aspects of the sound in real time, opening up a wide range of creative possibilities. For example, it can affect the pitch of the sound, creating a vibrato effect, or it can change the amplitude of the signal, creating a tremolo effect. It can also adjust filtering to create smooth transitions between frequency bands and dynamic textures. Modulation can also be used to change the character of the sound depending on the time or intensity of playing, giving the sound a lively and moving character.

Arpeggiator: Yes

The Arpeggiator transforms chords into sequences of individual notes played in various rhythmic and melodic patterns. Instead of playing the chords as a harmonic whole, the Arpeggiator breaks the chords into individual notes and plays them sequentially according to the selected algorithm.
